The eGaming Review (EGR) Operator Awards, now in its seventh year, has begun accepting entries for the next installment of the ceremony, due to take place on Wednesday November 30 2011.
Recognising ‘excellence and innovation in e-gaming’, the EGR Operator Awards is one of the most hotly-contested competitions in the online gaming sector. Last year’s episode of the contest attracted 160 submissions and more than 800 executives and developers from casino firms. The entrants competed for awards gold in 22 categories, ranging from ‘Operator of the Year’, to ‘Innovation in Gaming’.
Awards for achievement in slots, casino blackjack and other casino-style gaming were on offer, and will return this year, alongside the groupings for three other game types, including lotteries ans games such as betfair online slots. Casino operators are judged on originality of product, brand strength, and ‘leadership and innovation’.
The 2011 chapter of the ceremony will introduce four new categories, including a ‘French Operator of the Year’ award. The addition comes in the wake of relaxed gambling laws in the European country, which will allow operators to offer a wider variety of casino games to French gamblers.The award for ‘Best Italian Operator’ will also return in 2011.
EGR’s Operator Awards function will be held at the Artillery Gardens in Finsbury, London. Attendees will be offered a gala dinner; be able to play various gaming tournaments, and strangely, enjoy a fairground dodgems ride. The venue, otherwise known as The HAC, is a Grade II listed building, situated in the centre of a six-acre garden.
The final date for operators to submit their entry form is Friday September 16 2011. The shortlist will be announced a fortnight later, on Monday October 3. The EGR Operator Awards are referred to as the ‘industry event of the year’, offering online gaming’s most sought-after accolade.
